Writing Your Life Story

Today I realized something- something profound and utterly infuriating- I've allowed other people and their ideologies to write my life story.

We don't know each other that well yet, but I had a major life event occur just shy of 10 years ago.  From the moment that event took shape, I handed the pen (or keyboard, as it were) over to a myriad of people- parents, friends, society, religion, and lovers.  While I do not think I am blameless and haven't played editor or feature writer on occasion, I scooched the notebook over and said, "Here, write my life for me."  I just figured this out today.  Thanks to a fantastic therapist and over a year of self-exploration and learning my own truth, I saw what has happened and I'm shocked.  Infuriated is a better word- at myself, at the people who snatched the pen from my hand (whether they meant to or not).

So I'm starting fresh today- well, as fresh as I can at age 29 working at the same job I've had for 3+ years, living in my same little yellow bedroom and the house and roommates attached, and driving around Puddin', who just last year reached "Permanent" status according to the Montana Department of Motor Vehicles.  (Don't worry, I'll write more about Puddin' at a later date- she's a delight and I love her so!)  I'm starting fresh in that I'm picking up the pen and paper and scribbling a big ol' "FUCK YOU" to those that took over.  I'm back, motherfuckers!

Hello!

Well hello there!
My name is Molly, I'm 29 and I live in Montana.  If you are not a fellow Montana resident, I will answer your preliminary questions: No, we do not ride horses to school.  Yes, we do have speed limits on our highways.  No, we do not take kindly to people moving here from California.  Just kidding... kind of.

I've begun to panic that I am less than a year away from the big 3-0.  30!  Rather than deal with the emotional issues this entails, I found a list on Buzzfeed of "Books to Read in Your Twenties" and, of course, I decided I must finish all the books on the list before my 30th birthday.  Luckily, I've read a few already.

I will get into these books later, as well as my emotional issues, and more about the great state of Montana, but I'll leave it at this for tonight.  I look forward to laying it all out on these pages for you
